Hands up those of us who can remember those heady days of the early 1970s and the psychedelic folk/rock mix of the band String Driven Thing. Well I certainly can and now they are back with a shortened name with a superb release of well crafted Americana. Chris and Pauline Adams first put the band together in 1972 …
The band had a ball in Bavaria in May. They played gigs at Cafe Konrad in Vilsbiburg and the Salzstadel, Landshut, airing songs from the new album and some classics from the past. The crowds loved the sound and the band has been invited back for a longer tour. Thanks again to promoter John Flanagan and to everyone who made us feel so welcome. In the meantime, we thought you might like a taste of the band’s weekend in “another country”.

The customers of Sammy Dow’s on the Southside of Glasgow got a sneak preview of String Driven’s new album on Friday 24th April. Word of mouth had ensured a packed house and they were treated to gems like Another Night in This Old City written just half a mile away, over 40 years ago. The first set also included classic tracks from the 70’s as well as songs from 2007’s Moments of Truth.
