No, not another alternative festival but a 1000mile round trip to London & Cambridge for a gig and two radio sessions. Regular rhythm section, Andy & Dick, were (due to work commitments) unable to make the trip but Ronnie Garrity (bass guitar) & John Bradley (drums) were more than adequate replacements. No, the above is not a typo. The band ventured on a trip during August that may not have had the kudos of SWSW, but everyone agrees that NXNW was equally satisfying. A stripped down version of the band – Chris, George & Andy – crossed the Atlantic to perform at a tiny gig in a small island pub.

Hands up those of us who can remember those heady days of the early 1970s and the psychedelic folk/rock mix of the band String Driven Thing. Well I certainly can and now they are back with a shortened name with a superb release of well crafted Americana. Chris and Pauline Adams first put the band together in 1972 …
