String Driven play SXSE

SxSE
No, not another alternative festival but a 1000mile round trip to London & Cambridge for a gig and two radio sessions. Regular rhythm section, Andy & Dick, were (due to work commitments) unable to make the trip but Ronnie Garrity (bass guitar) & John Bradley (drums) were more than adequate replacements. Chris’s son Robin also joined us on the trip. Read all about it in our diary below and have a swatch at the photovideo of the trip.

String Driven play NXNW

String Driven play NXNW
No, the above is not a typo. The band ventured on a trip during August that may not have had the kudos of SWSW, but everyone agrees that NXNW was equally satisfying. A stripped down version of the band – Chris, George & Andy – crossed the Atlantic to perform at a tiny gig in a small island pub.

Easdale Island has a population of about 70, no shops & no cars but it does have a delightful little venue… The Puffer Bar. With everyone …

ALBUM REVIEWS Maverick, R2, etc.

The August editions of Maverick

they (& the others) have to say about
‘Another Country’.
Maverick *****
Hands up those of us who can remember those heady days of the early 1970s and the psychedelic folk/rock mix of the band String Driven Thing. Well I certainly can and now they are back with a shortened name with a superb release of well crafted Americana. Chris and Pauline Adams first put the band together in 1972 …

Bavaria – Video Album – May 2009

The band had a ball in Bavaria in May. They played gigs at Cafe Konrad in Vilsbiburg and the Salzstadel, Landshut, airing songs from the new album and some classics from the past. The crowds loved the sound and the band has been invited back for a longer tour. Thanks again to promoter John Flanagan and to everyone who made us feel so welcome. In the meantime, we thought you might like a taste of the band’s weekend in “another country”.
